Yosemite Bug Hostel Review

September 18, 2016

With limited accommodation in Yosemite Valley, the Yosemite Bug Hostel is the only close option of a hostel you have.  As part of the resort which includes dorm beds, private rooms, tented cabins and a guest house, the Bug offers a range of options for all travellers.

Location: Near Yosemite National Park, California, USA.

Date of Stay: September, 2016.

Price Range: USD$25-$340 per night

  • Decent priced café on site

  • YART stop a few hundred metres away

  • Free Wi-Fi

  • Comfy beds

  • Laundry facilities

  • Large café area has comfy couches and board games to hang out at

  • Fully stocked kitchen

  • If you are walking from the bus stop, there is a steep hill leading up to the hostel

  • No padlocks were for sale, there were lockers, but you will need to bring a padlock with a long locking part

  • You will be located an hour outside Yosemite Valley

  • There are only 4 lockers, even though there were 6 beds

Final Thoughts

This is the cheapest option if you are not camping.  There are plenty of car parking spaces if you decide to rent a car and drive into Yosemite Valley, otherwise you will have to rely on the YART for your return trip each day.  The rooms are adequate in size with each room having 6 dorm beds.  Choose between a male or female dorm or upgrade to a private room.  The beds were comfy and towels were included free.  If you want to do an extended hike, i.e 25 kms in one day, then I would probably camp in the valley.  Apart from the location being out of the park, I would stay at Yosemite Bug Hostel again.
