Great travel websites

April 16, 2015

Like vinyls did when CD's came along, the trusty guide book has become a niche market and is no longer the majority of traveller's gather information.

A platform that needs no introduction has come along and revolutionised the travel industry...The internet.  Below are some helpful websites that I find helpful when I am travelling.

www.tripadvisor.com

This website is a great way to get a feel of accommodations.  One thing you have to remember though, everyone has different perceptions of their stay.  I like to look at which rating has the highest amount of votes.  If there are more terrible than other options, then the place is more likely to be, well terrible.  On the other hand, if the property has more excellent, then it is probably a safe bet.

www.sleepinginairports.com

As the name suggests, it's a guide to sleeping in airports from around the world.  Not only info about sleeping there, but what each airport offers in the way of food, ATM's, showers, prayer rooms etc.  You can also vote on the best and worst airports while you are there.

 www.seatguru.com

This website has now been bought out by TripAdvisor, but it still gives you the information on your plane.  All you need is your flight number and the date you are flying and it will work out the rest form there!  This little beauty gives you the layout of your plane along with the best and worst seats to sit in.

www.skyscanner.net

Don't know which airlines fly where?  Log on to skyscanner and type your destination.  The page searches the majority of airlines and websites to give you the cheapest price.  Don't book through this page though.  It's always to book direct on the page.  Whenever I need some inspiration, I just type in 'everywhere' in the destination box and let the page works its magic.

              www.expedia.com  www.booking.com  www.kayak.com

                               www.expedia.com  www.wotif.com

All of the above websites search for hotels, usually at a cheaper rate than direct with the hotel.  Spend some time to research the pages to find the cheapest rate.

Last but not least, the one page that you are on at the moment.  www.itchyfeetescapades.com  If you have any questions or want any tips, feel free to email through our contact page.
